145,448. Bennert, C. Feb. 8, 1915, [Convention date]. Washing, processes and materials for.-Raw wool, woollen yarns and cloth, and mixed goods are scoured &c. by treatment with the alkaline salts of lysalbinic and protalbinic acids to which cleaning-materials such as ammonia salts, sodium carbonate, potassium carbonate, and soap may be added. The wool &c. may be scoured at a temperature of 70‹ C. The first-mentioned alkaline salts are prepared by heating albuminoid matter in alkaline solution, for example by heat ing 100 parts of glue in a solution of 15 parts of caustic alkali in 500 parts of water to 80‹-85‹ C. for from two to three hours, neutralizing the solution with weak formic acid, and then concentrating the solution. Impurities may be removed by treating with dry calcium or magnesium hydroxide, or both, filtering, and then adding sodium carbonate.
