1454007 Luminescent materials and uses thereof O SCHWANHAUSSER G SCHWANHAUSSER and H SCHWANHAUSSER [trading as SCHWAN-BLEISTIFT-FABRIK SCHWANHAUSSER & CO] 20 March 1974 [29 March 1973] 12439/74 Heading C4S A marking device is charged with a fluorescent aqueous marking solution containing ions of hydroxypyrene-trisulphonic acid and having a pH value in the alkaline range (e.g. >12 and >8À5). For durable alkalinity, alkalizing agent should be of low volatitity. Further fluorescent or non-fluorescent dyestuffs may be included, for example to modify colour shade and fastness. A humectant prevents drying up in a porous stylus and may be a glycol such as diethylene glycol, in amount 5 to 40% of the combined weight of humectant and water. Nibs and ball points are also mentioned. Written texts may be highlighted, or optically contrasted with other texts. Examples include further components of the solutions in specific concentrations.
