Abstract
1452100 Electric watches GENERAL TIME CORP 27 Dec 1973 [29 March 1973] 59862/73 Heading G3T In a bi-stable electro-mechanical transducer for a watch and comprising a stator 51 wound with a coil 53 which receives low duty cycle pulses to drive a permanent magnetic oscillatory rotor, the rotor includes a holding pole 63 co-operating with pole faces of the stator to hold the rotor alternately in its two stable positions, and the air gap between the pole 63 and the stator is so arranged that the holding torque does not change significantly as these positions are approached. The mechanical tolerances are stated to be thereby much increased. As shown the rotor comprises a magnet 69 sandwiched between high permeability discs 59, 61. An extension of the disc 61 forms the pole 63 and the rotor staff carries a pallet lever 70 which advances a ratchet wheel. An extension 72 of the lever co-operates with a member fixed to the movement bridge (not shown) to define the stable positions. The coil receives alternating pulses derived from a high frequency oscillator.
