Abstract
1451849 Haemodialysis apparatus TAKEDA YAKUHIN KOGYO KK 19 Sept 1974 [18 Sept 1973] 40968/74 Heading B1X A haemodialysis apparatus comprises a first compartment having an inlet and an outlet for the passage of blood, a second compartment having an inlet and an outlet for the passage of dialysate, the second compartment containing an adsorbent material for adsorbing impurities removed from the blood by dialysis, and a fluid circulating means outside the second compartment for circulating dialysate through the second compartment and a semi-permeable membrane permitting blood in the first compartment to communicate with dialysate in the second compartment when the apparatus is in use. The adsorbent material may be activated carbon, activated carbon contained in a paper web, activated carbon fibres, activated carbon cloth or a mixture of activated carbon and alumina gel. The semipermeable membrane may be of regenerated cellulose and in the form of hollow capillary fibres, wound sheet or flat sheet.
