Abstract

1447886 Photo-sensitive diazo composition containing a phosphor HITACHI Ltd 16 Nov 1973 [22 Nov 1972] 53345/73 Heading G2C [Also in Division H1] A photo-sensitive composition comprises an aqueous solution containing a water-soluble diazo compound and a water-soluble polymer in which a phosphor is suspended. The polymer may be polyacrylamide, polyvinyl alcohol, polyvinyl pyrrolidone, polyvinylmethyl ether, polyvinylacetal, polyethylene oxide, gelatine, acrylamidediacetoneacrylamide copolymer, acrylamide-vinyl alcohol copolymer, maleic acid-methylvinyl ether copolymer, arylonitrile graft polyvinyl alcohol or glycidyl-methacrylate graft polyvinyl alcohol. The diazo compound may be a benzidine-, #- toluidine-, diethylbenzidine-, #-dianisidine- or dichlorobenzidine-tetrazonium salt, diphenylamine bisdiazonium salt or condensate of diphenylamine-4-diazonium chloride and formaldehyde. The phosphor may be europium activated yttrium oxysulphide red phosphor (see Ex 1). The composition may contain a surfactant and an evaporation controlling agent e.g. ethylene glycol and/or glycerine. The composition may be coated on a support e.g. glass, exposed, developed to remove the unexposed, unhardened areas and heated to remove organic materials and leave a phosphor image. Heating may be effected at 430‹C in air.
