Abstract

1446998 Mixing in conduits FR SAUTER AG FABRIK ELEKTRISCHER APPARATE 30 Sept 1974 [25 Feb 1974] 42386/74 Heading B1C A static mixer for fluent media (liquids and/ or gases or granular solids) comprises a pipe having an inlet 1 for one of the media, an inflow junction 3 for another medium, and a disc 5 having at least one aperture therein positioned downstream of the junction 3 at a distance at least four times and at most six times the minimum cross-sectional diameter of the pipe, the disc having a thickness at least one-tenth of such dimension. There may be additional discs as at 8, and a flow-straightener 10. The pipe may be of circular, elliptical or polygonal cross-section and the aperture(s) in the disc(s) may (see Figs. 2-15, not shown) be circular, a major or minor segment of a circle, or substantially oval, polygonal or elliptical; the apertures may be tapered on the upstream or both side(s); the periphery of the aperture(s) may have ribs or grooves which may be radial or inclined to the radius, straight, tapered or curved. The media may be supplied by pumps 2, 4.
