Abstract

1446130 Releasable pipe couplings PARKERHANNIFIN CORP 12 June 1974 26059/74 Heading F2G A pipe coupling comprises a pair of identical body elements 10, 11 each provided with a flow passage 17 therethrough and a pair of projections 20 thereon at one end with recesses 21 to receive lugs (not shown) on the other body element in interlocking engagement on coupling the elements 10, 11 together followed by relative rotation to engage the lugs with the recesses 21, an inwardly projecting flange 25 being provided within each element 10, 11 to retain thereon a gasket 13 of elastomeric material each gasket having an outer annular groove 30 to receive the associated flange 25, a central bore 35 outwardly flared at the ends, and frusto-conical end faces 31, 32, the gasket being symmetrical about the groove so that it may be reversed end to end on its flange 25. On coupling the elements 10, 11 the gaskets 13 initially contact one another at edges 41, and on interlocking of the elements the gaskets are compressed together between internal shoulders 26 in the elements to provide a fluid tight seal.
