Abstract

1445393 Shelving T E HALLS 31 July 1974 [30 Aug 1973] 40828/73 Heading A4B A shelving construction comprises at least one shelf (1)<SP>3</SP> or (3)<SP>3</SP> supported between laterally opposed pairs of upright bars (1)<SP>1</SP> or (3)<SP>1</SP> held under pressure against a respective pair of opposed walls by one or more horizontal members jammed between opposed pairs of said bars, the horizontal members comprising either a shelf (1)<SP>3</SP> Fig. 1 or a pair of bearer bars (3)<SP>2</SP> Fig. 3 on which the shelf (3)<SP>3</SP> is supported, the upright bars having formations to locate the ends of the bearer bars. In one embodiment, Fig. 1, cross-bars (1)<SP>4</SP> interconnect the uprights (1)<SP>1</SP> which carry pairs of projections (1)<SP>2</SP> between which the shelf ends are located. In another embodiment, Fig. 3, the uprights (3)<SP>1</SP> are formed with triangular notches which receive correspondingly shaped ends of the bearers (3)<SP>2</SP>. The shelves (3)<SP>3</SP> may be in two parts and sagging may be prevented by reinforcing members (3)4 . The notches to receive the bearer bar ends may alternatively be rectangular Fig. 4, (not shown). In a further embodiment Figs. 2, 2a (not shown), a single shelf in three parts is suitable for fitting under a sink and is supported between opposed frames each comprising two uprights interconnected by two cross-bars, the uprights having pairs of projections to locate the shelf ends.
