Abstract

1442877 Colour television tubes NIPPON ELECTRIC CO Ltd 9 Dec 1974 [10 Dec 1973] 53147/74 Heading H1D To facilitate the lighthouse method of manufacture of, and avoid distortion of the phosphor stripes at the side edges of, the phosphor screen of a shadow mask colour television tube, the lines of elongate apertures 22 near the centre line of the mask are substantially parallel to the centre line, while lines of apertures 21 successively further away from the centre line exhibit a successively increasing curvature. A mathematical derivation of the line curvature as a function of distance from the centre line is provided. Reference is made to the use of the mask in a black matrix tube.
