Abstract

1440825 A curl dryer U TOMIATI 19 July 1973 [21 July 1972] 34525/73 Heading A4V [Also in Division A5] A curler, Fig. 1 comprises a perforated cylindrical enclosure 1 on which hair is wound and which contains an electric motor 6 to.drive an impeller 7 and create an air current through the hair. Rechargeable electric batteries 4, 5 supply current to the motor via a thermostatic control 8 set to close the circuit at a temperature appropriate to hair drying. The batteries are recharged without removal, by placing the curlers in an electricity supply unit, Fig. 7 which houses a plurality of curlers in compartments 14. Contacts 15 in the compartment engage conductors 9, 11 in the curler which connect with the batteries to complete a charging circuit. Three embodiments of the invention provide for arrangements within the curlers in which the motor is placed either as in Fig. 1 or at the opposite end of the enclosure from a single battery (4), Fig. 3 (not shown) or surrounded by an annular battery (4) Fig. 5 (not shown) from which it is separated by a corrosion shield. For each embodiment corresponding modifications to the contact positions in the supply unit are provided. The electricity supply unit is equipped with a timer and a voltage sensitive relay which prevent overcharging of the batteries.
