Abstract

1440062 Low lift truck WELDALL ENG Ltd 28 Aug 1973 [26 May 1972] 25044/72 Heading B8H A loading device, for use in association with a fork lift truck in the loading and unloading of a freight container or vehicle, comprises a pair of platforms 14, 15 connected together adjacent one end by a cross beam 16 and adapted to receive the forks 12 of a lift truck. Each platform has a pair of angle members 23, 24 fixed underneath with a frame 25 connected to the members 23, 24 by pivoted links 32. Rollers 26 are mounted on the frame 25 and are driven by chains 31 and sprockets 30 from a hydraulic motor 34. A ram 33 mounted on the crossbeam 16 is connected to the frame 25 to raise or lower the rollers 26 relative to the platforms. In operation the lift truck positions the device with a load thereon at the open end of a container, the rollers are then lowered and then driven to advance the device to the other end of the container. The rollers are then retracted to lower the platform free of the pallet and the device then reversed back to the lift truck. A similar procedure may be used to unload a container. Hydraulic power for the motor 34 and the ram 33 is supplied through hoses connected to the lift truck.
