Abstract

1437686 Double closure for medical container AMERICAN HOSPITAL SUPPLY CORP 24 Jan 1974 [7 March 1973] 03338/74 Heading B8T A double closure for medical liquid bottles comprises an inner closure 9 sealed on the neck 7 of the bottle 1, an outer cap 10 having a brim 14 fused to a corresponding flange 15 on the bottle such that when a jacking ring 16 is screwed tightly down on the external threads on the cap 10 the brim fractures around a frangible rim 32 formed in the brim. The outer cap 10 can now be lifted off and then the inner closure can either be unscrewed as shown or as in Fig. 6 (not shown) punctured to open the bottle. The jacking ring and outer cap are provided with left hand threads and the inner cap, when provided with a right hand thread so that both caps are removed by counter clockwise rotation.
