Abstract

1436088 Burner control LGZ LANDIS & GYR ZUG AG 2 Sept 1974 [7 Sept 1973] 38270/74 Heading F4T A control and monitoring device for oil or gas burners, comprises a three-member switch 14, 16, 17, for cutting in and out a fuel valve 18 and ignition device 15, a bimetallic relay 4 which closes the contacts 16, 17, for valve 18 after a time delay, and a flame relay 3 which holds the contacts closed, by a pawl 6 after de-energization of relay 4, and opens the contact 14 to which the ignition device and a parallel heating winding 10 of relay 4 are connected, wherein a restraining device 28, 29, is arranged between the armature 20 of relay 3 and an actuating member 7 of relay 3, which device temporarily prevents the armature from being pulled up so that the contact which switches the ignition device and heating winding opens with a delay. In operation, a temperature regulator 20 is closed and current flows to a burner motor 21 via the fixed contact of a switch 8, and to an amplifier 2 and a contact 16. Motor 21 drives a blower which pre-ventilates the burner combustion chamber. Current is supplied to winding 10 of relay 4 and to ignition device 15 via contacts 16, 14, which are closed. Bimetallic element 11 is heated and deflected in the direction of arrow 12, and moves member 7 to entrain a spring 13. If, after a time delay the spring moves over its dead centre, contact 14, together with contact 16, trips over to contact 17, and fuel valve 18 receives voltage so as to supply fuel to the burner. A spark from ignition device 15 ignites the air-fuel mixture, and a light sensor responds to the flame and switches relay 3 by way of amplifier 2. Due to member 29 lying above member 28 armature 26 of relay 3 is prevented from being attracted, until due to further heating, element 11 is further deflected. When the armature is pulled-in, pawl 6 engages member 5 and pulls contact 16 towards relay 3 and breaks the connection with contact 14. Heading winding 10, and ignition device 15, are cut out, and element 11 cools down and returns to its starting position with pawl mechanism 5, 6, holding contacts 16, 17, closed. The interval between production of the flame, and cutting out of ignition device 15, is the post-ignition time.
