Abstract

1425725 Fibre openers; open end spinning VYZKUMNY USTAV BAVLNARSKY 4 June 1973 [8 June 1972 (2)] 26545/73 Heading D1N In a fibre-separating device of an open end spinning unit, an area in which fibres are doffed from a combing out roller, being bounded by the roller lining, fibre loosening and separating edges, and a wall of air inlet and fibre delivery channels is so configured that the scatter of fibres about a basic determined trajectory, and the impingement of fibres on the wall and separating edge, is minimised. In one device, Fig. 5, having doffing area 10 between roller 8, fibre loosening edge 11, fibre separating edge 19, air inlet channel 16, fibre delivery channel 18 and wall 15, angle A between imaginary plane 25, tangential to the roller lining at edge 11, and wall 15, lies in the range 0 to 20‹. The angle D subtended by area 10 may be equal to or greater than 50‹. A cylindrical channel 16 may have a diameter smaller than that of the doffing area, with its mouth lying adjacent to edge 11 or to wall 15. Slidable orifice plate 28 may be provided, Fig. 8, to direct the air from channel 16. Wall 15 may be provided, Fig. 9, with air inlet and/or discharge openings 32. In the device of Fig. 13, the sudden expansion of channel 16 into area 10 causes wherling air 101 to prevent fibres being carried on by the roller.
