Abstract
142,440. Lebel, A. April 25, 1919, [Convention date]. Furs &c., beating.-A machine for beating furs and other articles comprises a power-driven camshaft b mounted in a casing a with a pivoted lid i, the cams c serving successively to depress the inner ends of beater levers d pivoted on a crossshaft e and pulled downwards by springs f after passing the tops of the cams. As the cams depress the inner ends of the levers, the outer ends are slowly raised, the return motion under the action of the springs being rapid so as to effect a beating action upon furs &c., placed on a preferably resilient support under the beaters. Rubber mounts are placed on the levers to obviate noise caused by impact with the edges of the slots or openings g in the casing. Balls or rollers are provided in the ends d' of the levers to minimize friction. The beaters h are secured in sleeves or bushes d<11> on the levers d.
