Abstract
1421303 Coating paper RHONE-PROGIL 4 Sept 1973 [7 Sept 1972] 41526/73 Heading C3P Aqueous compositions for coating paper, especially paper to be used in rotary offset printing, contain as the film-forming constituent a latex comprising a copolymer having a particle size not exceeding 0À18 micron and containing (a) 30-34 wt. per cent butadiene, (b) 56-68 wt. per cent styrene and (c) 2-10 wt. per cent of an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid, e.g. acrylic, itaconic or fumaric acid. Other paper coating constituents are included, and in Examples 1 and 8, the compositions contain kaolin, sodium pyrophosphate and (Example 1 only) starch.
