Abstract

1419285 Wells &c C G DELANO 6 Dec 1973 56592/73 Heading E1F A method of cementing a tubular string in a well bore includes reciprocating the string up and down through a stroke sufficient to reciprocate the lower string end while simultaneously rotating the string by means of a power sub 34. The power sub has a conduit 74 in a torque and fluid transmitting relationship with a swivel 42, having a fluid inlet 52, and a cementing sub 36. The string is reciprocated with a stroke in excess of ten feet by the drawworks (not shown), and the power sub 34 is driven by an hydraulic motor 78, a housing 76 of the sub being constrained for vertical movement by means of a guide 82. Torque is applied to the conduit 74 in a range between 0 and 6000 foot pounds. The cementing sub 36 has valves 96, 98 and 100, and plug gates 102, 104 for delivering two plugs (106, 108), Fig. 3 (not shown), into the string. Scrapers 26 are provided for scraping the borehole prior to cementing, the scrapers acting as paddles during the cementing process.
