Abstract

1417432 Catheters S F DUTURBURE M R DUTURBURE and V L DUTURBURE 27 June 1973 [4 July 1972] 30586/73 Heading A5R A catheter 5 comprises a flexible tube 6 having a first bore 7 extending substantially throughout its length and closed at the leading end 9, a first aperture 10 located adjacent end 9, a second aperture 11 spaced from aperture 10, the said apertures connecting with bore 7, a thin tubular membrane 12 positioned round tube 6 generally between apertures 10, 11, a second smaller bore 8 terminating between apertures 10, 11 and adjacent a further aperture 16 connecting bore 8 with the space 17 between tube 6 and the membrane 12, the membrane being fixed to the tube 6 to form, when inflated by fluid forced up bore 8, a port 18 leading to aperture 11, whereby a body cavity may be drained from the lowest level. In a modification, a flap (21) Fig. 4 (not shown) is formed as a one-way valve in bore 7, so that fluid forced up bore 7 is ejected from aperture 11 to dislodge deposits on the cavity floor to be drained through bore 7.
