Abstract
1399606 Aircraft engine air intake HAWKER SIDDELEY AVIATION Ltd 16 Oct 1972 [15 Oct 1971] 48191/71 Heading B7G [Also in Division F2] An aircraft has an entry 14 of an engine air intake 11 alongside structure such as a fuselage 10 extending forwardly of the entry, there being a slit 13 communicating with a compressed air duct to eject air tangentially downstream over the intake wall surface. The slit is formed adjacent a rearwardlydirected flange 19, Fig. 4, in a box-section member 17 which defines a duct 20 for the compressed air. The member 17 may be strengthened and the slit divided by tongues (21), Fig. 5 (not shown), secured to the flange 19. There may be a further slit 13A forward of the slit 13.
