Abstract

1392809 Conveyer rollers BROCKWAY ENG CO Ltd 4 July 1972 [7 July 1971] 31786/71 Heading B8A A bearing assembly for a conveyer idler roller comprises a housing 16 non-rotatably mounted in a support 18 and carrying a ball-bearing 22, 23, 27. Inner race 27 is secured on a member 29 drivingly connected to a spindle 13 formed from hexagonal bar stock. A circular portion 33 of the spindle is a sliding fit in a bore 32 of the member 29 and a compression spring 35 provides end thrust between the spindle and a closure member 30. With a similar assembly at the opposite end of the roller, the springs tend to centralize the roller and load the bearings axially thus minimizing "chatter". Labyrinth seals 25 are provided. Roller bearings are also specified.
