Abstract

1386285 Pulse radar INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP 29 June 1972 [2 July 1971] 30407/72 Heading H4D Appparatus for checking airborne distance measuring equipment comprises a reply pulse generator and a control circuit therefor, means for coupling said generator to a transmitter output and receiver input of a D.M.E. (distance measuring equipment) interrogator and means for coupling said control circuit to the control circuit of said D.M.E. interrogator, the apparatus simultating a distant transponder by generating simulated reply pulses separated from interrogation pulses transmitted by said D.M.E. equipment by a time interval corresponding to a predetermined distance. The checking apparatus 2 receives pulse transmitted by D.M.E. equipment 1 via circuit 28. Control circuit 14 provides a signal S4, to enable gate 16, and also a signal S5 to select a frequency channel in device 8. Circuit 15 provides a pulse output upon recognition of each pulse pair from the transmitter, and this output (Ip, Fig. 2, not shown), triggers a circuit 30. Circuit 30 in turn triggers monostable 22 twice to provide two pulses (Ir 1 , Ir 2 , Fig. 2, not shown) of duration C5 and separated by the required time interval. These pulses are separated from the original transmitted pulse pair by the time interval corresponding to the simulated distance. A U.H.F. generator 23 supplies the simulated reply pulses via an inductive coupling to receiver 12.
