Abstract

1384244 Abrasive-containing cleaners; aerosols STERLING-WINTHROP GROUP Ltd 26 June 1972 [3 April 1971] 8604/71 Headings C5D and C4X An aqueous cleaning composition comprises (A) 5 to 25% w/w of an abrasive of such fineness that at least 90% will pass a 300 mesh G.B. sieve; (B) 0À1 to 10% w/w of an anionic and/or nonionic detergent; (C) 0À5 to 10% w/w of a stable foam promoter; (D) 0À01 to 5À0% of a polyelectrolyte flocculating agent. The abrasive (A) may be alumina, silica, pumice, or kieselguhr; (B) is preferably N-lauroyl sarcosinate; (C) is a fatty acid diethanolamide, triethanolamine oleate or a C12-C22 fatty acid ester of 2- amino-2-methyl-1-propanol; (D) is a polymer of acrylic acid, acrylic acid-acrylamide or diethylaminoethyl acrylate, sulphonated polystyrene and others, or an acidic or salified polyphosphate ester based on nonylphenol ethoxylate or a fatty alcohol ethoxylate. Optional ingredients are humectants; corrosion inhibitors such as sodium silicate, sodium benzoate and sodium nitrite; and alkaline substances such as sodium metasilicate and sodium carbonate. The composition is preferably an aerosol containing a propellant such as butane, nitrous oxide or a fluorinated or chlorinated hydrocarbon.
