Abstract

1383797 Continuous multiple chamber furnaces SIGRI ELEKTROGRAPHIT GmbH 22 Sept 1972 [25 Sept 1971] 44074/72 Heading F4B In the firing of shaped carbon bodies in a continuous multiple chamber furnace said bodies are packed in powdered coke in saggers 5 placed in the individual chambers each of which has flue channels 1 served by ducts 4 defined by bricks 3 for the passage of hot flue gases or combustion air. The area of the ducts 4 decreases away from the side occupied by the flue channels 1, or the cross-section of the individual ducts may decrease. The chambers are not fitted with internal partition walls. The firing is conventional in that hot gases from the firing chamber are used to preheat others and hot air from cooling chambers is utilized in the firing chamber.
