Abstract
1382640 Oxidation catalyst INSTITUT FRANCAIS DU PETROLE 29 June 1972 [1 July 1971] 30574/72 Heading B1E [Also in Division C1] A catalyst for the oxidation of sulphur compounds in waste gas streams comprises a mixed oxide of the spinal type formed with iron and/or chromium and zinc and/or nickel, any other divalent metals present in the catalyst being at most 20% of the total metal content. At least 60% by weight of the catalyst has the spinel structure. The catalyst may be of the formula M x Cr z Fe 2-z O u where 0.2#x #2; 0.1#z #1.9; and 3.2 #u #9 and wherein M is a divalent metal either zinc and/ or nickel and may contain optionally a minor proportion of copper, cobalt, magnesium or cadmium. The catalyst may be supported on a carrier such as alumina, alumina-silica, aluminates and silicon carbide.
