Abstract

1382592 Optical filters W F KYRYLUK 24 May 1972 [26 May 1971] 17182/71 Heading G2J A light transmitting filter 30, Fig. 4, for placing in front of a television screen 10 to obtain, for most viewers, an apparent three-dimensional view of the picture comprises a tinted transparent sheet having a polished rear face 33 adjacent or contacting the screen and a front face 31 textured with a plurality of discrete transparent raised portions 42, Fig. 6 with portions of the front face 43 exposed therebetween. The screen is preferably tinted a neutral grey and the raised portions are formed substantially as parts of spheres by spraying clear laquer from a height above a horizontal sheet. Approximately 5-20% of the front face is covered by the raised portions which are of the order of 10-20 microns high and 100 microns diameter, and the density of the raised portions decreases radially from the center of the filter to compensate for the increasing space between the filter and curved screen.
