Abstract

1382201 Copper-base alloys OLIN CORP 16 Feb 1972 [13 March 1971] 7246/72 Heading C7A A copper-base alloy comprises by weight:- 22 to 40% manganese 0.1 to 2% iron 0.1 to 5% aluminium 2 to 10% zinc optionally less than 5% each of lead, tin, silicon, cobalt, magnesium and nickel up to 0.3%. each of phosphorous, arsenic, antimony, lithium and boron the balance being copper and impurities up to 0.05% each maximum total 0.25%. The alloy is substantially alpha-phase solid solution containing finely dispersed secondary phases, the grain size being less than 0.010 mm. The alloys may he hotrolled at 700-850‹C and cold-rolled with intermediate anneals at 500-800‹C to form sheets, strips or wire. They are particularly suited for brazing ferrous or white metal alloys, and may also find use in high-strength springs. Brazing structure composites may be formed of stainless steel or nickelbase wires clad with the alloy of the invention.
