1381676 Phosphate catalyst VSESOJUZNY NAUCHNO - ISSLEDOVATELSKY INSTITUT NEFTEKHIMICHESKIKH PROTSESSOV 27 July 1972 35123/72 Heading C1A [Also in Division C5] A phosphate catalyst is prepared by heating a Group II tertiary metal phosphate having a MeO : P 2 O 5 molar ratio of not less than 2À95 to a temperature within the range from 550‹ to 700‹ C. with a gaseous heat carrier (e.g. superheated steam or a mixture of steam with air or an inert gas) wherein Me is a Group II metal. The tertiary metal phosphate may be of granular form and may be prepared by reacting an aqueous solution of a Group II metal salt with a water soluble salt of phosphoric acid at a pH not lower than 9. The phosphate catalyst may be used to split 4,4-dimethyl-1,3-dioxane into isoprene.
