Abstract

1379291 Bubble tray KOMBINAT VEB KERAMISCHE WERKE HERMSDORF 8 June 1972 26834/72 Heading B1R [Also in Division F2] A valve in a gas-liquid contacting column comprises a valve plate 5 having an upstanding hollow spigot 6 into which projects a guide spigot 10 formed with a dome-shaped head 11 and inserted into a bore 4 of a yoke 3 on a tray 1. The length of the guide spigot 10 may be arranged to contact the bottom 9 of the hollow spigot when the valve is closed or when the valve is half-open in which case further opening takes place against the weight of the valve plate and guide spigot. Alternatively the guide spigot 10 does not contact the bottom 9 even in valve full-open position. In a modification the valve plate has depending peripheral dome-shaped projections (5a) so that there is a slight flow path when it is resting on the tray. Slots (6a) may be provided in the hollow spigot 6 to prevent the accumulation of dirt therein. The valve and tray are preferably of ceramic material.
