Abstract

1377184 Gas turbine burner assemblies DEFENCE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR 1 Feb 1972 [2 Feb 1971] 3657/71 Heading F4T In a fuel burner assembly 20 for a gas turbine engine the main fuel supply flows via ducts 36, 40 into an annular duct 52 supplied with highpressure air to atomize the fuel, atomization being completed by air passing through an annular passage 64 around the duct 52 a primary fuel injector 30 having at least two outlets (68), Fig. 3 (not shown), the whole of the primary fuel being arranged to pass out of the injector 30 through apertures (68) and impinge on a frusto-conical deflecting face. The primary fuel passes to a bore 32 in a primary-fuel nozzle 28 and thence to a spring-urged injector 30 having outlets (68), Fig. 3 (not shown), inclined radially and in a downstream direction, from which the primary fuel impinges on a frustoconical defecting surface on nozzle 28 in the manner disclosed in Specification 1,377,185. Air can also pass via duets 48 in a flange 50 of main nozzle 26 into a recess 44 between nozzle 26 and a heat shield 42 to prevent deposition of carbon thereon. Ducts 40 and 48 may be inclined at 65 and 45 degrees respectively to the longitudinal axis of the assembly 20.
