Abstract

1375552 Mounting teeth in opening cylinders CONSTRUCTIONS MECANIQUES F LAROCHE & FILS 12 Nov 1971 [21 April 1971] 52567/71 Heading D1N In an opening machine, particularly suitable for recovering waste fabric or preliminarily opening new fibre, the cylinder 1 is formed with open sided cylindrical axially directed slots 19 into which asemblies of teeth 23 are slid. The assemblies each comprise toothed members aranged in a single stack and clamped together axially. Fibre is fed to the opener or a belt 11 and then past a delivery roller 2 over resiliently loaded troughs 3. A plurality of troughs 3 are provided side by side to accommodate varying thicknesses of the rags &c. being delivered, Fig. 2 (not shown), their position realtive to the cylinder 1 being adjustable by threaded rods 15. The cylinder I may comprise, Fig. 4, co-axial discs 17 and 18 with slit tubular members 19 accommodating the teeth 23. Alternative shapes of slot, e.g. "T" shaped may be adopted. Each tooth 23 which is sickle shaped, Fig. 7 (not shown) has a cylindrical retaining piece 22 and is slid onto a rod 27 with alternate spacers 26. The rod 27 has threaded ends and the teeth and spacers are retained by nuts 28, further nuts 28a being used to hold the whole assembly in the cylinder 1.
