Abstract

1371027 Cooling liquids BRITISH OXYGEN CO Ltd 14 Sept 1971 [24 Sept 1970] 45621/70 Headings F4H and F4K [Also in Division B1] A method for cooling a liquid food product, includes the step of introducing an inert liquefied gas through at least one jet directly into the product. Examples of suitable liquefied gases for milk cooling are liquid nitrogen and liquid argon. The gas may be introduced into the liquid product through one or more sprayheaders 8, or by inlet jets directed so that liquefied gas introduced through them imparts a swirling motion to the liquids in the vessel 14. The vessel 14 is also provided with an impeller type of stirrer 26 driven by a motor 27.
