Abstract

1367971 Valves H ALLEN 6 Jan 1972 [1 June 1971 17 Sept 1971] 707/72 Heading F2V In a rotary ball valve the seats 45 have substantially spherical inner and outer surfaces 50, 44 which respectively engage the closure surface of the ball and the substantially spherical surface 49 on the housing and each seat may be removed from the housing through the opening 25, when the bonnet 28 is removed, with the ball in position. As shown the seats are in two parts 46, 47 pressed apart by springs 51 and are located in position by surfaces 54 on the housing and depending rim 55 on the bonnet. Apertures 58 closed by plugs 58a are provided so that a tool 59 may push the seats upwards for their removal. Seats may be in one piece and rotated by pawl and ratchet mechanism each time the ball is actuated.
