Abstract

1366791 Imitation solid fuel fires; fan heaters FRED MEYER OF CALIFORNIA 15 Sept 1972 [20 Sept 1971] 42895/72 Headings F4W and F4V A space heater comprises an enclosure 22 containing a heater 30 and a fan 28 for circulating air through the enclosure, and imitation solid fuel supported on said enclosure. The imitation solid fuel comprises logs 14, 16, 18 and ornamentation strips 38 of thin plastics material mounted between the logs which move in an air current to give a flame effect. This effect is enhanced by light reflected by the strips form lights 68 mounted inside the logs. The air flow generated by the fan 28 is divided into two streams due to the angle of inclination of the fan bisecting the angle between wall portion 56 and a panel 48 of a baffle assembly 32. The panel 48 directs one portion through the heater 30 and out through the front panel 34, while another portion flows above and away from the baffle assembly 32, through the air-permeable panel 36, and up between the imitation logs 14, 16, 18 causing wafting of the strips 38.
