Abstract

1355415 Dredging vessel BALLASTNEDAM GROEP NV 14 May 1971 [14 May 1970] 15048/71 Headings B7A and B7M In a dredging vessel 1 having a hold 2 for receiving spoil 3, sensing points 14a-14e with pressure pick-up 28, Fig. 3A (not shown), constitute first means for sensing the distribution of weight at different levels 38a-38e in the vessel. Pressure pick-up 27 and sensing points 13a-13e constitute second means for sensing the level of the upper surface of spoil in the hold in a settled condition and a device 31, Fig. 3B (not shown), receives signals from the first and second sensing means. This device computes a value of a parameter decisive of the stability of the vessel in a manner that allows for the effect of that portion of the spoil that is in fluidized condition, to compare the computed value of the parameter with a previously calculated value to provide a signal 92, Fig. 3B (not shown), when the computed value approaches the calculated value. Jack 113 is responsive to that signal and operates valves 114, 115 which control the loading of spoil into the hold.
