Abstract

1347951 Tufting carpets CRESTLINE MILLS CARPET CO Inc 5 May 1972 21154/72 Heading D1G A long length of carpet backing 110 is joined at its ends to make an endless loop, a tufting head 18 then tufts a small width of material round the loop, the material is moved sideways, rolled up at one edge, and another width tufted until the material has been tufted across its whole width. The ends are then separated again. The apparatus consists of a conventional tufting head 18 on a table 12 having a carpet roller along each side 34, 36, a frame 82 carrying another roller 84 and a sloping board 106. A variable speed motor 22 drives the tufting head and the rollers through belt and chain drives.
