Abstract
1343960 Drying of grain E NIVON 5 May 1971 13179/71 Heading F4G Grain loaded into a hopper 1 is dried as it descends continuously by gravity through passages 2 to controlled outlets 4, heated drying air and unheated cooling air being drawn from respective inlets 12 and 10 and through the perforations in the walls of the passages 2 and hence through the descending grain by a single suction fan 9 which evacuates air ducts 6 via pipes 7 and a manifold 8. The descending grain passes over mixing plates 3 twisted a half-turn over their length, and their ends engage in U-section bars secured to flat members connected to the end walls of the dryer. A number of dryers may be assembled together in parallel, the manifolds 8 being connected to a main duct communicating with a common fan.
