Abstract
1342485 Vehicle wheel arrangements MOULTON DEVELOPMENTS Ltd 21 May 1971 [28 April 1970] 20341/70 Heading B7D A road vehicle comprises a frame having four independant suspension wheel stations A, B, C, D, each station having a pair of tandem wheels, the four front and four rear wheels being steerable and driven respectively and the suspension of each tandem pair being in fluid communication. Each suspension station comprises two diaphragm-type hydraulic displacer units 15 interconnected hydraulically by a manifold 17 from which depends hydraulic accumulators 18 having a rubber or pneumatic spring. Damping is provided by annular rubber flap valves which control fluid flow between the manifold 17 and the individual accumulators 18 and displacers 15. The front wheels are steered by simultaneously actuated track rods 31. A power unit and integral gearbox 20 transmits drive to the rear wheels via a universally jointed divided prop-shaft 21 connected to a main differential 22 split into two secondary differential units 23; the three units forming a sprung unitary structure.
