Abstract

1337547 Chip frier J FIRTH and D J HARRIS 19 April 1971 [16 Jan 1970 5 Aug 1970] 2205/70 and 37825/70 Heading A4D A chip frying apparatus comprises a frying bath 2, a food hopper 3 located above and to one side of the bath, a frying basket movable from inside to outside the frying bath, means for effecting such a movement and means for ejecting a portion of food from the hopper into the basket. The base of the hopper may contain a tray or drawer for dispensing predetermined portions of food on to the shoot 4. The tray or drawer is reciprocated by an electric motor 17. The basket and shoot are pivoted at 20 so that when the frying is complete the motor 22 raises the basket and the chips slip through funnel 25 into the dish 26. Preferably the basket and shoot are slidably mounted on a pivoted plate. When the basket is lifted out of the bath it is at first prevented from sliding by a spring mechanism. When a certain tilt is reached the basket is released and it slides along the plate until it abuts a pin. This jolt releases the chips from the basket. The apparatus may be provided with an extractor fan 10, a fire extinguisher 30 and a filter unit 9.
