Abstract

1336807 Locks FICHET-BAUCHE 29 Feb 1972 [3 Sept 1971] 9386/72 Heading E2A In an arrangement for controlling and indicating the locking of the compartments of a strong room, each of which has an electromagnetic locking device 25, each locking device is connected to a memory unit which receives control instructions and an unlocking pulse from a control console 10 having a keyboard 11 with ten binary outputs for composing the number of the compartment to be unlocked, so that the unlocking of the compartment whose number has been composed is triggered by the unlocking pulse, and is allowed for a predetermined time only. The number is displayed at lamps 13 as the keys are pressed, a key 14 unlocks the selected compartment, and a key 15 checks the open or closed condition of the compartment. The console operates the locks 25 through a control box 23. To initiate opening of compartment the clerk in charge depresses two keys of the keyboard corresponding to the pre-programmed code number by means of rotary switches 20, 21 before composing the clients number on the keyboard. Depression of the first key validates one or more of conductors 101-104 from keyboard 30, Fig. 3, to transform the decimal value of the depressed key into binary form, to trigger memory 105, Fig. 3, to light lamp 106, and also to control connection to a comparator by means of stroke counter 31. This compares the signal from switch 20 with the value of the first key. If these do not agree, a signal is fed to an 'error' memory 40 which acts to prevent reception via memory 43 of the ensuing instructions by the register 32, and this prevents the display of the selected number. But if the number is correct, then the output of comparator 37 is fed into the 'correct code' memory 41. Depressing the key corresponding to the second figure of the code number controls by stroke counter 31 to energise the comparator with this figure and that from memory 43 and memory 41. This permits signals from the keyboard via shift register 32 to pass to the display 12 so that the number keyed may be checked. The unlocking control key 14 is then pressed, but if this is not done within a preset time, the apparatus is returned to its initial state. But if it is done quickly it triggers memory 46 which energises a display lamp, Fig. 3. It also controls device 35 including a pulse clock and divider counter 122 having outputs 123-127 feeding a device 34. This feeds decoders 138-141 responsive to units, tens, hundreds and thousands respectively. Each memory 81 may be selected at will to energise its respective unlocking solenoid 83, so that during the time set by timer 153 the compartment may be opened. The open or closed condition of each compartment may be verified by means of a key 15 which acts on memory 47 controlling a device 35 in a similar manner to that described above. The sequence of events may be tape recorded at I. A key 16 serves to automatically check all or some of the strong-room compartments through triggering a memory 63 and clock 61 to operate the decoder counters and the memories 81 successively read out their condition open closed, and the display 12 indicates the open compartment.
