Abstract

133,577. Windle, E. Jan. 30, 1919. Plane-trigonometry calculators; slide-rules.- An apparatus for the solution of right-angled triangles and for use as a protractor or drawing instrument of the kind comprising a quadrant having a pivoted arm and a sliding vertical member, is provided with logarithmic as well as ordinary scales so that the sliding member may be replaced by a rule bearing a logarithmic scale to act as a slide rule. The base B, radial arm A, and sliding vertical member C are provided with similar evenly graduated scales a and with logarithmic scales b, that on the arm A co-operating with a double scale e to half the radius. The quadrant D is graduated in degrees and gradients, and a groove G is provided in the base B to carry the member C or a logarithmically graduated rule. The joint F is formed as a flat knuckle joint to allow the device to lie evenly on the paper.
