Abstract

132,938. Kemp, J. P., and Bornand, F. V. Nov. 22, 1918. Systems of charging galvanic batteries.-In electrically propelled vehicles in which the motor is supplied from accumulators, the latter are arranged in two groups a, a<1>, a switch h controlling the connexions of the groups so that they can be charged and supply the motor b either in series or in parallel. The switch has four interconnected arms, each moving over five contact studs; the central set of studs is the " off " position. The motor-control resistances d are used as the regulating resistances in the charging circuit. The switch g for these resistances has to be moved to the position where all the resistance is included before the switch h can close the charging circuit. The motor controller e is inoperative except when the switch k closes the motor supply circuit. An ammeter k, amperehour meter l, and volt-meter m are in the charging and motor supply circuits, and a volt-meter across the motor terminals is used as a speed indicator.
