Abstract

1323611 Photo-conductive alloys vapour depositing photo-conductors CANON K K 10 June 1970 [10 June 1969 24 Nov 1969 (2)] 28176/70 Heading C7A and C7F [Also in Division H1] The Specification discloses specific alloys of Se + Te containing 5-10 wt per cent Te and specific alloys of Te + As + Si + Ge containing 60, 24, 5 and 11 or 62, 25À8, 3À6 and 8À6 wt per cent respectively. A three-layer structure is formed vapour depositing at 600‹ C an amorphous layer of Te + As + Si + Ge alloy on to an aluminium plate held at 60‹ C in a vacuum of 10<SP>-4</SP> to 10<SP>-5</SP> mm Hg, followed by vapour deposition at 250‹ C of a layer of Se + Te alloy with the plate held at 65‹C and then vapour deposition at 250‹ C with Se with the plate held at 68‹ C. The alloys we made by grinding the elements together, heating in a quartz ampoule at low pressure and quenching in water.
