Abstract

1321941 Disc brakes; retaining pins ALFRED TEVES GmbH 19 April 1971 [21 Feb 1970] 22025/71 Headings F2E and F2H In a spot-type disc brake a pair of pads and a hold-down cross-spring are held in position by virtue of their engagement with a pair of pad retaining pins 1 which are stamped from sheet metal and which engage in slots in the tops of the backing plates of the pads and which pass through locating holes 10 in a brake housing which straddles the disc. The pin 1 of Figs. 1, 2a includes a latch 2 bent back towards the shank of the pin 1, which latch 2 has a nose 3 which snaps over an edge of the locating hole 10 to hold the pin 1 in place: the end 4 of the pin 1 is reduced in size. In the embodiment of Fig. 3 (not shown), the latches (2) of two pins are joined by a cross-piece (5). Fig. 4 shows a pin formed with recesses 7 in its shank and each recess 7 can engage the hold-down spring 12 to aid location of the pin: the widened end 8 of the pin fits into a locating hole 10. Fig. 5 shows a pin with a tang 9 which engages an inner wall of the brake housing adjacent the hole 10 and Fig. 6 (not shown) has the wider end (8) of the pin further widened around a punched hole (11).
