Abstract

1315272 Independent rear suspensions CHRYSLER UNITED KINGDOM Ltd 28 Feb 1972 [17 March 1971] 9155/72 Heading B7D In a rear wheel suspension for a motor vehicle a hub 23 rotatably supporting a road wheel is mounted on a trailing or semi-trailing suspension arm 24 by means for allowing rotation of the hub to adjust the toe-in of the wheel and for securing the. hub in the adjusted position. A fork 26 integral with the hub 23 extends into a recess 24a around the periphery of the arm 24. A bolt 27 is a close fit in holes in the fork 26 and arm 24, and bolts 28 fit with clearance in the fork and arm so that the hub 23 can be pivoted about the bolt 27 to a limited extent when the bolts are slackened. A lug 29 on the member 26 is bolted to the bottom of the recess 24a by a bolt 30, and shims 31 are placed beneath the lug 29 to hold the hub 23 in the required position. The arm 24 may be a semitrailing arm which is mounted on a Y-shaped support member for connection to the body of a vehicle as described in Specification 1,315,271.
