Abstract

1307144 Benzodiazepines SUMITOMO CHEMICAL CO Ltd 19 April 1971 [23 April 1970 14 May 1970 (2)] 27064/71 Heading C2C Compounds of the general formula (R = C 1-4 alkoxy, C 3-6 cycloalkyl; X = halogen; Y=C 1-4 alkyl; n= 1-3) and their acid addition salts are prepared by (a) reacting a compound of the formula with a reactive ester of BC n H 2n OH, or (b) removing the protecting group(s) from a compound of the formula (Z = nitrogen protecting system) and ring-closing the product, optionally followed in either case by salt formation. The above compounds are sedatives, muscle relaxants, hypnotics and anticonvulsants, and may be administered in the form of pharmaceutical preparations containing them in association with a carrier. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 972,968.
