Abstract

1291256 Windscreen wipers J S BATTYE 29 Jan 1970 [30 Jan 1969] 5540/69 Heading A4F [Also in Divisions H2 and H3] A circuit for the control of a windscreen wiper motor to provide intermittent operation at a variable frequency comprises a capacitor 3 and a resistor 4 connected in series between the cathode and anode of a thyristor 10, the junction of the capacitor 3 and the resistor 4 being connected to the thyristor gate either directly, as illustrated in Fig. 2 (not shown) or through a transistor amplifier including a Zener diode 11 and comprising e.g. two transistors 5, 14, the circuit having two output terminals 7, 8 which are shortcircuited by energization of the thyristor 10 at intervals determined by a manual control which varies the time constant of the capacitor-resistor combination 3, 4, e.g. adjusting the variable resistor 4. The terminals 7, 8 are connected across a parking switch 1, Fig.1 (not shown) in series with the wiper motor. The parking switch 1 closes on energization of the wiper motor and de-energizes the thyristor 10, operation of the wiper motor being contained until the parking switch opens when the cycle is repeated.
