Abstract
1288160 Stamping TEXAS INSTRUMENTS Inc 10 April 1970 [28 April 1969] 17202/70 Heading B3Q [Also in Divisions G1 and H1] A snap acting thermally responsive element comprises a thermally responsive strip 10<SP>1</SP> having a dished surface portion 14 and a plurality of deformations 25a<SP>1</SP>, 25b<SP>1</SP>, 27a<SP>1</SP>, 27b<SP>1</SP> formed in the strip. The strip which may comprise a plurality of metallic layers may form part of a snap action switch by being screwed at one end 12 to an electrically insulating base 15 and provided with an electric contact for co-operation with an electric contact 18 on the base 15. The element may be formed by inserting a flat strip between a forming die 20 provided with a convex-upper surface defined by different radii 31, 33 and with a plurality of parallel bores 24, 26, 28 and a punch 22 having a concave lower surface defined by radii 30, 32 matching the radii 31, 33 of the die, the strip then being acted upon by the punch and die to deform the strip thereby forming the deformations 25a<SP>1</SP>, 25b<SP>1</SP>, 27a<SP>1</SP>, 27b<SP>1</SP> and ridges 34-39.
