Abstract

1286671 Valves WALKER CROSWELLER & CO Ltd 15 June 1970 [13 March 1969] 13162/69 Heading F2V A vacuum breaker valve comprises an inlet 7, outlet 17 and a chamber 11 in which vents 18 are covered by a valve member 19 when the pressure of fluid flowing through the valve is greater than atmospheric pressure, and uncovered when said pressure falls below atmospheric pressure. A valve member 21 moves to close the outlet 17 from the inlet 7 during venting. An alternative arrangement includes a diametral venting passage (28) (Figs. 4-9, not shown) and a central boss (26) housing the valve. When the valve is in the lower position the resilient washer (40a) conforms to the part-spherical surface of the inlet port (Figs. 7 and 8). Two nested valves (Fig. 8) may be provided.
