Abstract

1284737 Measuring humidity electrically UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY 3 April 1970 [1 May 1969] 22370/69 Heading G1N A humidity determining electrolytic cell includes electrodes 2, 3 twisted together to form a double start helix, one of the electrodes being sheathed in a material such as woven glass fibre which allows passage of ions in the presence of an electrolyte. The electrodes may be of platinum and the woven glass fibre is impregnated with hygroscopic material which is also coated on the other electrode. In operation a D.C. supply is connected to the electrodes 2, 3 and the gas sample is conducted through housing 1, the electrolysis current being measured to indicate the moisture content of the gas sample.
