Abstract
1282392 Soot blowers DIAMOND POWER SPECIALITY CORP 19 April 1971 [4 March 1970] 22103/71 Heading F2N A soot blower comprises a fixed gas or vapour supply tube 18, a fixed liquid supply tube 30, a tube 12, slidably and rotatably fitted on tube 18 and terminating in a nozzle 37 having opposed gas or vapour outlets 36, and a tube 33, slidably and rotatably fitted on tube 30 and terminating in a liquid discharge nozzle 40 or two opposed such nozzles, Fig. 5 (not shown). Nozzles 37 and 40 and thus tubes 12 and 33 are secured against relative movement. The orientations of liquid discharge nozzle 40 and vapour outlets 36 are such that their spray patterns do not interfere with each other. Fins 32 locate tube 33 centrally within tube 18. Con- Conventional means, Fig. 1 (not shown), for projecting and withdrawing the blower are provided. The gear or vapour may be air or steam and the liquid may be water. In use, both fluids may be discharged simultaneously, the gas or vapour being discharged at a relatively low flow rate, and then the liquid discharge is stopped and the gas or vapour discharged at an increased flow rate.
